I Like to Play is a World Vision Early Readers book. Konrad, who works for World Vision Canada, has beautifully displayed pictures of children playing around the world to complement the text. The pictures are what draw the reader in. They are very vibrant and colourful. The pictures show children using their imagination and having fun playing. Most of the children are wearing traditional costumes and have bright smiles on their faces. The simple text is is perfect for this age group. Highly Recommended. The pictures and text also match up. “My friends and I love to dance” is accompanied by four different pictures of children dancing. As an early childhood educator, I would have this book in my classroom. Multicultural materials are very important to allow children to see how similar we are even if we look different. If you need another reason to buy this book, here it is: all royalties for the sale of the book go to support World Vision’s work with children.
