I’m Jay the bear. Here are my friends Nora the bunny and Clementine the bird. Would you like to play with us? YUM! Where do all these delicious foods come from? An animal? A plant? A tree? Do they grow under the ground or above it?

Play with Jay! is a sweet, interactive books that focuses on fun and games for young readers. There are 21 activities in this book. All activities help stimulate the inquisitiveness of a young child’s mind. There is a focus on numeracy, alphabet and feelings. There are no correct answers which means that there is a lot of room for open-ended conversations with little readers. Children will enjoy this entertaining format.

Pascale Bonenfant is a talented writer and illustrator. She has worked on more than a dozen books and is currently teaching graphic design in Quebec. Her work includes a variety of mediums: watercolour, drawing, collage and screen printing. Children will enjoy the characters in Play with Jay!, and the fun touches that the illustrations bring. Readers will determine where the fly lands on the banana, help Jay pack his suitcase for Grandma’s and look at objects large and small. With such focus on activity, it is imperative that illustrations are captivating, and Bonenfant does just that. Colours are bright, characters are expressive, and, most importantly her illustrations make the reader want to complete activities on that page.

If you’re looking for a book that is fun and will get lots of conversation and involvement from your preschooler, Play with Jay! Fun and Games for Little Readers is the book for you.
