Wherever you’ll be…
I’ll be thinking of you.
I’ll blow you a kiss.
You blow me one too.

I would have loved to share this story with my own daughters when they were very young. One of them in particular (I won’t be mentioning any names here) would hold onto my leg just as I was at the door ready to leave for work. Bribery aside, she would simply not let go until she was absolutely convinced that mum would return soon.

Wherever You’ll Be is a loving and tender story written by Ariella Prince Guttman. The reader follows a mother and her sweet daughter as they enjoy their daily routines independently. Mother and daughter’s busy day activities are juxtaposed on two-page spreads where readers see what each of them is experiencing. The similarities in their day are highlighted in warm pastel coloured images created by Geneviève Godbout.

Written in rhyme, the story can be shared almost in a calming whisper to create a safe atmosphere where one’s child is assured that, even though we all have different responsibilities, she will always be loved.
