As a continuation of their collaborative efforts with books like Same Same, Eats and One Some Many, Jocelyn and Slaughter combine complex concepts with very simple text and illustrations. The high contrast and limited colour palette (red, yellow, black, green, blue and white) are used to assist in the study of “direction.” Like much of his gallery art for which he is renowned, Slaughter uses paper-cut collages to present a visual notion of “place” and “travel.” Although the suggested audience is 2-5 years, it is doubtful that younger children (2 and 3 years) would warm up to some of the language. The text, at times, has a melodic feel but will change rhythm, adding a certain awkwardness to reading aloud. “Will we go ONE WAY? And get there quickly? Or take a DETOUR and see the scenery?”

As noted in reviews of the team's earlier works, there is a certain energy and vibrancy in their collaborations. Jocelyn and Slaughter appear to be most interested in introducing sophisticated concepts to very young children. There is a strong appeal to their visually stimulating and attractive presentation that has the potential to interest some young readers.
